Ballyseedy Garden Centre Expands

Located in Tralee, Ballyseedy Home and Garden Centre is a family business. It has been in business since 1992 and now operates a flagship store in Tralee. It has also opened three additional stores in partnership with Dairygold and a café in Limerick. It is regarded as one of Munster’s premier home and lifestyle destinations. Its recent expansion is expected to create 50 new jobs by 2022.

Ballyseedy Garden Centre, located just outside the town of Tralee, is a leading lifestyle destination in the county of Kerry. This unique business specializes in selling premium quality plants and gardening services. It also offers a seated indoor and outdoor cafe and three additional cafes in partnership with Dairygold.

The first branch of Ballyseedy Garden Centre began as a mobile home but has now grown into a successful business employing over 100 local people. In 1989, the business was sold to businesswoman Bernie Falvey. The next generation continues to support the running of the business.

Bernie Falvey has run the Ballyseedy Home and Garden center outside Tralee, Co Kerry, for twenty years. Now, he has plans to expand his business by creating a second centre in Cork. The new center will create 60 jobs and include a restaurant and big-brand concessions. It will be located in the Fota Retail Park. Kudos Catering will be the new center’s caterer, offering light meals and freshly-baked cakes.

The Ballyseedy Garden Centre began with a mobile home and a small plot of land. Today, the company employs over 100 people in Munster. In fact, it is one of the largest retail businesses in Munster. Today, the business is run by the next generation of family members.

The shop’s inventory contains many locally made products, from peat-free compost to organic seaweed plant feed. The team’s ethos is to champion Irish products and promote local business. They have aligned with the Design and Crafts Council Ireland’s (DCCI) ‘Made in Ireland’ campaign, which aims to encourage local businesses and promote Irish crafts.
