Class Finder and Course Schedule

The self-service class finder contains course details such as subject (for instance, Actuarial Science), prerequisite and co-requisite requirements, credit hours and meeting types & times, instructors & other criteria to help you select course sections quickly and efficiently.

Students can begin their search with filters such as subject or course number and refine it by other criteria.

Class Schedules

The class schedule provides information about courses offered for a particular term, including meeting patterns, times, locations, instructors (if available), and unique class numbers students require for registration. It can be seen online through several methods, including Class Schedule Listing Page, Detailed Class Information page, or Course Catalog Entry page.

TMCC offers classes to fit into any busy life – online, in-person, and accelerated formats, all available for the entire semester or accelerated study. In addition, our selection ranges from introductory college credit courses to non-credit workforce development training options.

Use the new class planner tool in your ConnectCarolina Student Center for real-time class information and scheduling courses. This helpful feature offers multiple features to assist in choosing classes best suited to your primary and future career goals.

View the current class schedule and search for classes by academic department, day of the week, location, or instructor name. The program is updated nightly, so you always have up-to-date information regarding upcoming classes. Reviewing your class schedule before enrolling is essential so registration steps are completed correctly, and your adviser(s) know which courses best suit your interests.

Course Descriptions

Class finder allows students and faculty/staff to quickly search course descriptions from all courses offered over the last four academic years. Please be aware that Class Finders should only be used to locate classes of interest; students needing to register must use Albert.

Searching the class finder can be done in several ways, but one practical starting point would be selecting at least one subject area from the left-hand list of offerings. Once chosen, additional criteria (course number, credit hours range, or meeting days) can help narrow your search further.

An indicator in the course description must clearly state if a course has been tailored for students with disabilities. It’s vital that other school personnel can quickly determine whether this class meets these students’ specific needs as outlined in an Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Course codes are used to identify courses at the national level. A 12-character code includes two digits representing the Course Subject Area followed by three indicating its Course Number within that Subject Area – for instance, XFW stands for first-year writing seminar.

Attributes are optional components that can be added to a 12-character SCED identifier to provide more in-depth course details for scheduling, funding, and reporting purposes. Please see the Forum’s best practices guide for additional information about course attributes. There are five descriptions for foreign languages that progress from beginner to higher fluency levels and reports for various course types, such as study abroad programs, field experiences, cultural immersion conversations, culture studies, and literary study courses offered through SCEDs.

Course Schedules

The class schedule contains crucial details about classes that offer college credit, such as meeting times and locations for each section. Students should consult this document to ensure their course selections satisfy specific prerequisites or registration restrictions.

The schedule contains each section’s course number, title and description, meeting days (s), times, locations, and instructors. In addition to meeting details, it also features course materials and an overview. Students can view their syllabus by selecting its link within their course detail window.

Two weeks before each semester begins, course schedules are available for students and advisors to view and plan for. Students have ample opportunity to consult their advisors when reviewing this schedule in preparation for planning for what lies ahead in that semester.

Students are strongly encouraged to attend in-person classes as much as possible; however, sometimes, it may not be educationally sound to offer specific courses if enrollment numbers are too low or extraordinary circumstances dictate canceling them. When this happens, the Office of the University Registrar will inform enrolled students as quickly as possible of this decision.

Class finder presents all available classes for a term with real-time status updates for each section (open, closed, or waitlist) along with information on their method of instruction (hybrid or online course) and whether or not the section requires registration.

The system allows students to filter for specific subject areas, departments, and subjects when searching by code or formal name. They can also utilize search filters for credit hour range, course level instructor attribute starting and ending dates, and credit hour range search filters.

To access the class finder, students looking for quick access to popular search criteria should select the “Courses” tab on their Albert Student Center home page. Or they can click on the “Course Schedule” link in myRedDragon, as this schedule is updated as soon as the Office of University Registrar publishes it for upcoming terms – making it accessible publicly as well.
