Whether you are looking for a new job or are an entrepreneur looking to invest in the next generation of technology, there are a number of options when it comes to IBM careers. Here are four reasons why you may want to consider working for this world-renowned company.
During the last 18 months, IBM hired a significant number of digital technology experts. Unlike IBM’s traditional hiring strategy, which focuses on recruiting experienced business experts, IBM’s new approach is driven by the hiring of a new generation of digital experts. These experts have a broad range of expertise, enabling IBM to better serve clients.
For example, IBM’s finance organization drives innovative improvements to global financial processes. The group works to drive value for the business through the provision of measurable and actionable information.
The group is composed of Data Scientists, Solution Architects, Designers, Business Transformation Consultants, and Financial Analysts. These individuals work within business units and geographies to develop and deliver solutions. In addition, the team works with client teams to identify and solve their challenges.
During its first year, IBM’s Apprenticeship program has grown twice as fast as it was projected to. During that time, the company has trained and hired more than 500 apprentices in 17 states and plans to hire more than 100 in 2018.
The IBM apprenticeship program has an educational component that teaches technical skills, such as problem-solving and design thinking. It is a full-time earn-and-learn program that includes mentorship and hands-on experience. It is designed for individuals without a four-year degree.
The educational component of the program is often funded by grants and scholarships. It may include tuition, books, and materials. It can take up to 24 months to complete.
The program includes 27 apprenticeship career tracks. Each of these focuses on different skills and responsibilities. Besides on-the-job training, each apprentice receives guidance from an IBM manager.
Designed for experienced technologists who have taken a career break, IBM’s Tech Re-Entry Program offers an opportunity to return to work after a lengthy hiatus. It aims to re-establish participants’ confidence and prepare them for the next step in their careers.
This 12-week internship provides interns with the opportunity to work on high-profile projects and learn from experienced technologists. The program pairs returners with mentors who guide them through the IBM culture. Participants are expected to complete the program with an advanced understanding of IBM products, as well as with new skills. In addition to providing a stepping stone to full-time employment, the program offers participants a chance to get absorbed into IBM’s product teams.
The program is open to individuals with four years of experience, or who have been out of the workforce for one year or more. It is also open to candidates with disabilities.
